About Us
The Stowaways started in 2008 with a small group of Senior Golfers from Stowmarket Golf Club occasionally playing at other courses. Over the next four years the numbers grew and the list was closed to new members in 2012. Membership is reviewed annually, and if anyone has not played in the previous 12 months they are moved to an inactive list to allow the recruitment of new members.

We have around eight fixtures each year and normally carry out a survey annually to decide on the venues for the next 12 months.

In 2021 a one off membership fee was introduced - see below.

Stayaways
From 2012 until 2025 members of the Stowaways have travelled to France Belgium and Ireland and the places visited can be seen by clicking below. From 2026 the visit to Ireland is being arranged by a new organiser who discovered last year the attractions that the country has to offer.

Membership Rules

Rules are kept to a minimum but the the number of members is currently restricted to 60. It is expected that every member will play ay least once each year. If you do not play during the year you will be transferred to the Inactive Members List allowing further new members to take your place

Due to the majority of golf clubs requiring a deposit when booking and to meet the upfront cost of the shirts and sweaters, members are now required to pay a fee of £25 on joining. This is intended to be a non-recurring payment unless circumstances change and, if you resign, you will have the option of being refunded.
